Just returned from my month in Spain. As always the people were very friendly and welcoming ( the cynics amongst you would say its cos of how much dosh I give their way), not me, they are genuinely nice.
Weather and wine and food as always fantastic.
However not all was good! For the other half's 50th I shipped the boys + 1 out for 8 days. Well the amount it cost it would have been cheaper to hire the Albert hall!! Great fun was had by all, food consumption stepped up a gear, but all in all a good time was had.
They returned home and then 2013 dived even deeper than it has been so far!
A few days after coming back number 1 son's girlfriend had a horrendous asthma attack and he had to rush her into A&E, she ended up staying in for 4 days. On her second day in I got a Phone call from number 2 son who was at home and couldn't breath, with horrendous chest pains. Eventually he called the paramedics and an hour later he was stabilised and taken to hospital. I don't recommend listening to one of your offspring having medical problems whist on another Continent. So the decision was made and I flew home that night to ensure all was settled and take number 2 son to London.
So got him settled in London and flew back to finish my holiday.
The day we flew back was my Mum's big cancer op. fortunately all went well.
On the Wednesday our spaniel Elgar suddenly became poorly, which ended up on the Thursday with him being put to sleep!
Welcome back to England!!! Elgar was a good age 15/16 and we had enjoyed a lot of good times with him. RIP schmuggly dog, miss you xxx
Mum is now home and recuperating, still in pain and very tired but glad to be back home and we are all delighted the operation was a success. She has only 2 more chemo sessions to go.
Go on then 2013 what else are you going to throw at me!
I am certainly getting my kicking this year.

Life Jim but not as we know it!
The world is an extremely strange place for me at the moment. Number 1 son still trying his hardest to get a job. All credit to him he isn't getting down like I would in his situation. Littlest is now in exam time. Boy, 14, need I say more? Revision how do you spell that? Such a shame, he is a blend of the two and could do so well. Hope the penny drops sooner rather than later!
SO - Number 2 son!
Well coursework due in Tuesday.
Much to his Mum's annoyance I persuaded him to come home (by paying for his ticket OBVIOUSLY)!!
So we get home and set about the work. Before anyone says anything-he did it all himself, I was merely a sounding board.
It all started well, then he decided he needed a release so went out Saturday for a few beers with his brother (until 4am). Then Sunday when he eventually appeared he decided later he needed to see a girl he had met the previous night for a different release!
Sunday a struggle to get him focussed, I eventually got a draft to read at 3.45 am!! Some chance,
on you go son!
My mum is struggling with her fight against cancer. Her Chemo knocked her for six she has been sick for 3 weeks and has been in and out of hospital. The strain is showing on my dad which is unfair. He has now started being domestic, bless him, he will do anything for my Mum, including if he could have her cancer! Old fashioned true love! She is now out feeling better but next chemo this Friday so fingers crossed.
That's the family - so what about me?
Work is very tough, busy with no margin, got home from Ireland and not a "welcome back love" from the wife, I actually got ".... I want a divorce...."?
So life is in a state of flux, do I look for a bachelor pad in Birmingham city centre, Do I up sticks and move to London with number 2 and be outcasts together?
I have made mistakes but at my time now didn't expect the kicking I am getting. I have always tried really hard, I can only draw strength form others, My mate Paul, who has had a really tough time and still get up smiling. Good on yer mate you are an inspiration to me! Lets hope this new venture comes good its about time we had some luck!
Tonight I have commented on "The Overgraduate" blog. He was commenting about gay "marriage".
I will put here my same confusion.
I am reasonably educated and at School we used the Oxford English dictionary as our bible in English.
So I looked up their definition
So Please explain to this thick University educated Chartered Accountant how the above and "Gay" marriage are the same. I have no issue with gay union, but ..........
SO - Number 2 son!

Long time no post
Well peeps I wish it was all good news as to why I haven't posted, sadly not. I can categorically state that 2013 is the lowest point of my entire life so far.
No. 1 son is trying so hard but can't get a job, he still remains positive to his credit and my pocket!, but he's a lovely lad so deserves support. Little Un, now not so little he is starting to tower over his elder brothers, revenge will be sweet, he is lovely and talented but he is a boy! Hopefully realisation and his brothers mistakes may help him realise earlier! He isnt doing too bad, off to south of France in July, skiing with school in February, rugby tour to France in April.
Number 2 still struggling with the dark side. Improved from before but still hits deep lows. Trying to hold him up to save him from drowning, his mum wants to let him go and sort himself out, I have a,ways been a softy despite the growling exterior.
My own Mum was diagnosed with ovarian and abdominal cancer about 2 months ago. She has had the first round of Chemo, knocked her for 6! She is soldiering on, the toll it s taking on my Dad is unfair. The medical profession have a lot to learn. So many forms! How many times guys do you need to ask an 80 year old woman how many children she has and when her last period was? In the age of technology we appear to have forgotten the human factor!
The Irish trip was great as always, shame it went downhill when I got home and my wife asked for a divorce! I hasten to add nothing to do with the trip!
So what the rest of the year holds I have no idea.
3 kicks in the bollocks is enough or any man. People tell me I am tough, maybe but how much of a kicking can you take. Oh and by the way I am still trying to run 2 businesses.
No.2 son blipped whilst I was on Emerald Isle, my mate Dave the Overgraduate was amazing as always, thank you sir, one day I hope to be able to repay you.
This weekend I have him home to do coursework much to the dismay of she who must be obeyed.
I have spent 6 hours in intense study mode and when he suggested he was going out you would have
thought he was 13 not 23 and she had done the work!
So the future is a blank page now. Not quite what I envisaged at all. Quiet run down to retirement, no chance now. How do you even contemplate looking for a new partner at 54?
I will keep you posted.
Need some sun!
Ps just read my post after Xmas, how wrong could I ave been!

February is nearly over, 2013 hurry up and piss off!
Well I know 13 is supposed to be unlucky, but surely not to everyone I know including me?!
Dare I wish my life away? I really have found nothing to celebrate yet this year.
Friends in business trouble.
No. 1 son disillusioned with working so hard for jack shit then getting no response on job apps. If anyone out there reads this and cares about the next generation, at least give them the courtesy of a reply to a job app even if its a NO! Treat them with some dignity or else in your dotage they will come and shit on you big time and if they don't, trust me I will!!
No. 2 son tough time in London, I did try and tell him that our "wonderful" capital city is a great place to visit and a shit place to live but did he listen? Did he fuk!
Little Un is making all the same mistakes but this time for a 14 year old with an attitude of a 24 year old!
Mrs B less said the better!
Me hay life's a beach! Shame it's always raining on the seagull shit on my beach!
Rbs results, can't resist a comment - ignore the £5billion loss we are told, the bank made a profit before fines etc!
I am now convinced that all those living down there are on another planet in that profession!
Does he think we are all devoid of a brain "up north" cos it's so cold. Where does he think half the profit came from that resulted in the fine!! What a twat, take that profit out and put it with the fine below the line and I bet the bank hasn't made a profit.
Dickhead I rest my case my lud!
And I promised my doctor I would keep my blood pressure under control, how can I when wankers like that are so grossly paid and even when they cock up get paid off?
I repeat my mantra - No justice!

Can 2013 get any worse or is that tempting fate?
Business has been typically Januaryish as previously reported. Then I find out my chum with the brain tumour has had bad news, another pal had a growth the size of a golf ball removed from his groin,......
A black fog has descended all around me.
THEN the worst 2 weeks of my life started!
Black dog decided to bite at my family and appears to have sunk his teeth in deep and is taking some shifting.
It has been an emotionally and physically draining time. Also the first time I have not pulled my weight at work, which would always annoy me. On top of that number 1 son is finding his new business tougher than he thought, despite putting in very long hours.
I then find out that good friends of ours are really struggling despite having put 20+ years of serious graft into their business.
There is no justice, I know life isn't a bowl of cherry's but it doesn't seem to reward those that put it in at the moment!
The worm must turn at some point! If it doesn't it will get stamped on and I will be a very grumbly bear! Pooh can have his little black rain cloud anytime.

Mid Jan blues
Well we are in the last half of January and quite frankly i can see nothing to write home about. It's been a pretty crappy start to the year in all respects, can't even pick any half decent bones out of it.
Actually yes the only saving grace has been the snow. I love the peace and tranquility it brings, except for the lunatics on the road who either drive at 5 mph,and hence shouldn't be on the road or the lunatics in 4 x 4 's who think they can drive at whatever speed they like coz they are in a 4 x 4. Shock news guys it doesn't matter how many wheels are driving when you go sideways, you dickheads!
You probably guessed I am not in the best if moods so I will sign off.
Hasta la vista!

New Year and early 2013
We all safely returned to Four Oaks and looked to NYE with trepidation! A night at the Casino at Star City Casino, a meal a floor show and £5 to spend in the Casino afterwards! All for the price of ...... Wait for it £35 on NYE!!!! I know I didn't believe it and was wondering which bit would be shit. There were 8 of us so if nothing else we could get pissed at a relatively inexpensive rate.
Shock horror we had a great night!! The food whilst basic was tasty and hot, the Robbie Williams tribute pleased Mrs B so she smiled for the first time in a long time and even got all of her not unsubstantial self up dancing! A pleasantly good intro to 2013.
A day to recover then back to work, got the works holiday planning wrong, suffice it to say I will not be back in work next year on the second!
So 2013 is off and running. It certainly hasn't started at a gallop, more like a sedately walk!
Business is so stressful, there is no pattern, no forward view, it's all on a knife edge.
Number 1 son is learning all about the difficulties and pressures of working for himself, number 2 is back in London- phew! Little fella (now not so little!), is as trying as the others. Now he wants to go on a school skiing trip next year to USA! He is definitely 13 going on 23!
So good job I have the annual pilgrimage to look forward to!
